Workshop #1: What happened to my fairy tale?
Saturday, January 22, 2010, 9:30 am - noon
$35 per participant (minimum of 4, maximum of 8)
The American culture teaches females from a very young age that LOVE is the answer to all things. We are told stories of how a handsome prince will come from near and far to rescue us from harm, love us for our beauty and goodness, and that a kiss will be the ultimate in happiness. As we mature we read books and watch movies about love and passion that make us anticipate the joy and excitement that we will have in our adult love relationships. When we marry, we have a beautiful celebration of our "eternal commitment" to the man we love.
Then years later, many of us look at ourselves in the mirror and ask:
“What happened to my fairy tale?!”
This workshop is a discussion about the expectations that our culture, and we ourselves, put on our relationships with our partner. Be prepared to discuss:
- what your expectations of marriage were
- what compromises you and your partner have made
- how those compromises have impacted your viewpoint
- what change you can affect
- ideas on changes you and your partner can make
Remember, if you don’t change the script, the play always ends the same way.
