We help families develop skills in problem solving, communication, and relating to improve the overall functioning of the family as a unit.
Here is an overview of what we'll do in family counseling:
-
The family will define how you function currently, what challenges you have, and how you would like the family to function after therapy is completed. This means a sharing of ideas from ALL participating family members.
-
We will examine how the choices that individual members have made, and are making, are impacting how the family relates and functions.
-
We will set realistic goals for individual members, as well as the family unit, to move toward the agreed upon family goals.
-
Participation is the key to success. All family members will make some small, and some large, changes in how you function relative to your own life as well as the family unit. You will all be encouraged to work on your goals outside of the counseling office – to successfully reach the goals that have been set.
-
We will help you connect with other resources as necessary.
